NORCO Original Soundtrack is a collaborative release featuring both the game’s music, composed by Gewgawly I of Geography of Robots, and several new tracks by the Baton Rouge sludgecore band Thou. In total, there are 43 tracks and over 2 hours of music.
Gewgawly I’s driving post-industrial not only sets the unforgettable atmosphere of the game and reminds us of the masterpieces of gaming music from the 80s and 90s, but also represents a chic example of modern experimental music and moves the genre forward.
Thou add to the “gloomy” atmosphere with their compositions in the style of drone metal. The band itself states that it writes music “for all fans of alienation, absurdity, boredom, futility, decay, the horrors of history, the vulgarity of change, awareness as agony and reason as a disease,” and all these themes are reflected in the living and diverse world of NORCO.
The key fragment of the soundtrack is the composition Goo in a Burning City (fmGew Remix) – a remix of the song Thou, recorded by Gewgawly I and sound engineer Geography of Robots under the nickname fmAura, in which the musicians’ preferred styles are intricately intertwined. You will be able to hear this composition not only in the game, but also in the NORCO Act One trailer.
