The vision becomes reality – after the first battery-electric buses of the eCitaro type entered series service in Hamburg in the summer of 2018, this modern city bus can now also be found in OMSI 2.
Currently, 20 of these vehicles are already in operation in Hamburg (status up to April 2020), and they can also be found in other German cities, such as Berlin.
All the features of the original can be found here, such as the cornering light, automatic light, rain sensor, new interior design, features of the high-voltage electrical system and much more. Of course, the compressor, air conditioning and power steering are also completely electrically powered. You will notice this in the behavior and sound of the bus. Compared to the Hamburg Bus add-on, 44 new sounds have been added.
In addition to the well-known Hamburg ticket printer and LED destination display, the e-buses are equipped with a two-section wide-format passenger display and a validation and sales system (PVS) with which passengers can check their digital tickets.
The implementation of the vehicle in the game is based on the original HOCHBAHN training documents and on experience in regular operation. You can even charge the bus at the bus depot using the standard “fill” button in OMSI 2. This looks best if you are standing under a canopy with a charging cable, as in the Hamburg HafenCity map. Of course, the add-on also includes several realistic paint versions from all over Germany, as well as 4K repaint templates for your own advertising.
