4th Generation Warfare – Mercenaries

Use mercenary groups to strengthen your national armed forces with battle-hardened professionals. You can also conduct “unofficial” military operations for which international authorities cannot directly hold you accountable. But be careful: if you are found out that you gave the order, it can lead to tragic results. Mercenaries are brutal, feared, and effective in combat. They have air transport and armored personnel carriers at their disposal.

A number of mercenary groups from different countries can provide you with services (officially or secretly). You can identify and contact one of these groups, and then hire them for a period of several weeks to several months.

You will control the leader of a mercenary group and use the group according to your plan. The higher the combat reputation of the group, the more effective it will be in combat. But the price will be correspondingly higher.

Each group has a headquarters in its own country. Using transport planes, the group can quickly move to various locations of operations and then set up temporary camouflaged camps.

You should remain vigilant, as these groups are motivated only by money, and therefore they can sell their services to the highest bidder. Thus, your enemies can use them against you!

The group leader can perform a variety of actions and use a number of tactics:

• Move cautiously on land
• Destroy objects and engage in looting in enemy territory. If successful, they will spread terror among the local population.
• Loot a military base and seize some or all of the military equipment stored there.
• Go on a reconnaissance mission to discover all units and buildings hidden along the way. The group can also discover minefields.
• Set up a temporary camouflaged camp anywhere to serve as a base of operations.
• Replenish their ranks by recruiting new soldiers and purchasing new equipment.
