This expansion adds three new Indian civilizations, achievements, and fully voiced campaigns to Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition — one for each civilization. The list of new features is impressive: 9 units, 15 single-player missions, and completely new buildings.
Three New Civilizations
Bengali: Build a solid economic foundation in a land of winding rivers and impenetrable jungles, and bring indomitable regiments of war elephants to battle. The Bengali unique unit is the Ratha, a war chariot that can switch between melee and ranged combat.
Dravids: Dominate the lucrative trade routes of the Indian Ocean and use your master metalworkers to build one of the richest maritime empires in Asia during the Middle Ages. Unique Dravidian units include the swordsman with the urumi, a sharp, flexible blade, and the tiridai , a massive ship that is the terror of the high seas.
Gurjar: Gallop across the fertile fields and vast plains of Western India and unleash the full might of a diverse, yet equally resilient, force of warriors. Unique Gurjar units include the swift srivamsha horseman, who can dodge enemy attacks, and the chakram thrower , an infantryman who hurls deadly iron discs at enemy troops.
Three brand new campaigns
Babur: Almost a century after Tamerlane’s death, his heirs continue to fight for control of Transoxiana and Persia. In this struggle also involves the young Zahir al-Din Muhammad, nicknamed Babur, which means “tiger”. He dreams of returning the scattered possessions of his ancestor to their former glory, but the invasion of horse nomads from the northern steppes threatens to turn all his plans upside down. In this campaign, you will play as the Tatars and Hindus.
Rajendra: the sword of Damocles of inevitable moral decay hangs over the power-hungry Rajendra Chola. The political situation in South India mercilessly weeds out the weak, leaving only the most resourceful in the ranks. Will Rajendra be able to expand the borders of the empire inherited from his father without becoming a monster, or is he destined to lose in a fight with the most terrible enemy – himself? In this campaign, you will play as the Dravidians.
Devapala: Guided by the moral teachings of Mahayana, Devapala rules a rich and prosperous empire. However, the more enemies gather on its borders, the more difficult it is for the emperor to maintain a precarious balance between living according to the precepts of Buddha and foreign policy. Is this dangerous game worth the candle or will Devapala, striving for enlightenment, fail not only himself, but also his loyal subjects? In this campaign, you will play as the Bengalis.
