Game description

Combat Mission Cold War is set during the pivotal years of a conflict that would last 45 years. From 1979-1982, NATO and Warsaw Pact forces began their transition from the industrial warfare of the early 20th century to the modern digital battlefield. Combat Mission Cold War simulates multiple “what if” conflict scenarios between American and Soviet forces centered on the strategic Fulda Gap and its environs in West Germany.   

The game also simulates the early days of the US National Training Center (NTC), when American forces began to rapidly transform from Vietnam-era doctrine to the revolutionary AirLand Battle concepts that would shape warfare in the modern era.   

Combat Mission Cold War is a sandbox for experimentation, such as how would an M-60A3 or M1 face off against a T-80 in 1982?  How about the same situation with the M-60A1 or M-60A2 in 1979 against the T-64 or T-62? The game allows the player to do just that! 

Combat Mission Cold War includes 15 separate scenarios set in the US V and VII Corps sectors in West Germany, and 3 full campaigns.
