World War I is set across the mountains of the Italian Front, as beautiful as it is deadly.
The new Conquest game mode puts you right in the thick of the action during a key offensive on the Italian Front. Lead the charge across stunning Italian landscapes, choosing your path to victory by cutting barbed wire, outflanking enemies along mountain paths, or using mortars to carve a path. Create a dynamic battlefield by placing sandbags, barbed wire, ammo boxes, trench periscopes, sniper shields, and more.
Take part in historic offensives from the Sixth Battle of the Isonzo to the Punitive Expedition. As you progress through each offensive, the action will unfold across a variety of environments, from foothill fortresses to mountain trenches and fierce battles in the streets of cities, all while reflecting the course of real events. Everything is recreated based on real exploration and expeditions: from the sound effects and uniforms, to the houses, vineyards and trenches you will fight for.
Call for support with a uniquely historically accurate flare system: flare guns can indicate targets for artillery and biplanes, while colored flares can be used to signal your squad. When the big guns have weakened the enemy, finish the job in close combat with the Arditi dagger or ice pick. Use heavy machine guns, mortars, and even mountain guns for direct fire support.
Choose from six classes based on historical combat roles, and customize your loadout with weapons, equipment, and traits specific to that class. This allows for flexibility and variety, although it is based on what real soldiers of the time might have carried. You will be tasked with cutting barbed wire, bandaging your own and your teammates’ wounds, and using a whistle to signal an attack. One hit can kill, and even minor wounds can quickly lead to blood loss.
Being a good soldier at the Isonzo requires more than just being a marksman. Knowing how to use the terrain is also key – a mountain can be an ally or an enemy. Learn to navigate the mountains well to find cover, surprise your enemies, or help your allies.
And finally… beware of deadly poison gas. You’ve never seen such a dive into the First World War!
