Radio Commander puts you in the shoes of an American commander during the Vietnam War. You are tasked with coordinating military operations between 1965 and 1968.
But this is not another RTS where you are an invisible creature hovering over the battlefield. In Radio Commander, the only way to assess the situation is to listen carefully to your soldiers as they fight. All you have at your disposal is a strategic map on which you place your units and make notes.
A UNIQUE APPROACH TO REALISM
Radio Commander offers a unique gaming experience that is completely different from what you are used to in real-time strategy games. This is a bold attempt to rethink the genre – the decision-making process here is much more realistic than in more casual RTS. Request situational reports. Listen to your soldiers. Send helicopters for extraction and drop napalm. Defeat the invisible enemy.
DIVERSE YOUR HISTORY
Follow the story of soldiers and their commander caught in the horrific conditions of the bloody, chaotic, and controversial Vietnam War. The game touches on difficult topics: civilians caught in the thick of the fighting, dubious CIA operations, and cynical demands of politicians. These situations were captured in such cult films as Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, and Apocalypse Now, and were experienced daily by those who served in Vietnam. See for yourself how difficult it is to make the right decision in the middle of a firefight with the Viet Cong.
DECIDE WHO LIVES AND WHO DIES
The fate of soldiers is in your hands. The decisions you make affect the course of the game and determine the views of your hero. Or perhaps your own? In Radio Commander, you will face difficult questions. Are your actions fair? What is the price of human life? How strong is the poison of propaganda and stereotypes?
USE YOUR IMAGINATION
Radio Commander is not another bland action game. You will play as a commander, managing the situation from his tent. At your disposal is only a radio and a map, which you will stare at for hours, carefully listening to reports. Your decisions will affect the fate of many people. As in real life, there are no fancy animations and graphics to help you imagine what is happening on the battlefield. There is only your map and your abilities. You will have to listen carefully and act judiciously. This approach provides a higher level of immersion than in traditional RTS.
CHOOSE BETWEEN DIFFERENT MEANS OF ACHIEVING THE GOAL
Not only will you have infantry squads, helicopters, and field artillery at your disposal, but you will also have powerful air support. You will be able to drop napalm, which can burn down entire jungles, and the most powerful bombs. Are you ready to rain fire on enemy positions? Are you sure that your people are far enough away to avoid losses? And do the ends always justify the means?
ENJOY DEEP GAMEPLAY SYSTEMS
The battlefield is not only determined by the events of the story – a deep, complex simulation is hidden from the player’s eyes. In Radio Commander, each squad is described by a set of unique characteristics. You will have to monitor the morale, ammunition, and even the fatigue level of soldiers. All of these factors will play a role when meeting the enemy and moving through unfamiliar territory in the unfamiliar conditions of the Vietnamese climate. What will you do when the helicopters report that they have run out of fuel and are forced to land in the middle of the jungle? Will you send a rescue team, risking the lives of even more people?
Make Friends with Brothers in Arms
The squads under your command are more than just figures on the map. They are complex, multifaceted individuals with their own opinions and problems, with their own strengths and weaknesses. Mutual trust is a prerequisite for victory. Their lives depend on your prudence and balanced decisions, and you can only hope that they will do everything possible to achieve their goal. Hundreds of unique dialogues and stories await you. Replay completed tasks to change the course of events, make different decisions and find yourself in different situations.
