RimWorld follows three survivors of a crashed space liner as they build a colony on a frontier world on the edge of known space. Inspired by the space western spirit of Firefly, the deep exploration of Dwarf Fortress, and the epics of Dune and Warhammer 40,000, RimWorld is a game that takes inspiration from the game’s epics.

Control your colonists’ moods, needs, thoughts, wounds, and illnesses. Engage in deep, small-team combat. Wear clothing, weapons, and gear made from metal, wood, stone, fabric, and exotic, futuristic materials. Fight pirate raiders, hostile tribes, ferocious beasts, and ancient killing machines. Discover a new world every time you play. Build colonies in environments ranging from desert to jungle to tundra, each with its own unique flora and fauna. Manage and develop your colonists with unique biographies, traits, and skills. Learn to play easily with an intelligent and unobtrusive AI mentor

RimWorld is not designed as a competitive strategy game, but as a story generator. It is not about winning and losing, it is about the drama, tragedy, and comedy that happens in your colony. The game creates events like pirate raids, traders, and storms. But these events are not random. RimWorld uses an AI storyteller (modeled after the AI Director from Left 4 Dead) that analyzes the situation and decides which event it thinks will make the best story.

You can choose between three narrators: the thoughtful Cassandra (Classic), the more thoughtful, construction-oriented Phoebe Quiet, and the completely unpredictable Randy Random.
