The Empire’s high culture uses cutting-edge technology and honors the ancient traditions of kings and queens whose great patrimony was destroyed by an unknown enemy. Now, a refugee fleet spreads across the world in search of allies.
Royal Titles
Colonists can earn royal titles granted to them by the Empire.
Build luxurious bedrooms and majestic throne rooms for your nobles as their royal title increases. Dress them in finery fit for a king. They will deliver inspiring or demoralizing speeches from the throne room, depending on their abilities. They will play the piano, harp, and harpsichord for fun and in unison.
Knights or Counts can call upon the Empire’s elite troops, equipped with sync weapons and possessing psionic abilities, to assist them.
Psi Powers
Titles grant the right to Imperial psi-amplifiers. Those who possess them can influence their enemies with their minds. Those with psi-abilities can blind enemies or control them to do the wrong thing. They can block an ally’s sense of pain or imbue them with deadly focus. Advanced “psi-castes” can cause a mass vomit in the enemy camp, teleport objects or people, drive enemies mad, or make allies temporarily invisible for their stealth attack.
For those who wish to rebel against the Empire, there are also other ways to obtain psi-amplifiers.
Quests
To earn titles, you must complete quests. Since RimWorld is a story generator, quests are not fixed like in other games. Instead, the system procedurally generates unique quests for each new game. Different objectives, enemies, guests, rewards, helpers, special threats, and world states combine to create endless variations of stories and challenges.
By completing a quest, you can earn new allies, unique implants, archetech artifacts, gear, royal titles, faction favor, and more.
Mech Clusters
Mechs can now create Clusters – a group of mech structures that work together to provide the player with a unique tactical challenge.
Mech Clusters always spawn in a “dormant” state, giving the player time to plan an attack. In this case, the player will be in the role of an attacker, which contrasts with the defensive-oriented base game.
Imperial Technology
Imperial Technology combines ancient weapons with ultra-tech. They wield plasma swords, electro-hammers, and razor-sharp monoswords. Some of their weapons can speak directly to the wielder via psi-link. These synchronized weapons are frighteningly effective, but only the wielder can use them. The Imperials also have a rich tradition of body implants – neurocalculators, drill arms, gastroanalyzers, skin-hardening glands, subcutaneous weapons, poison attacks, aesthetic enhancements, nuclear stomachs and lovemaking enhancers. You can obtain the blueprints for all of these and build them.
