In Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, Jayavarman VII rules the Khmer, while Tribhuvana rules Indonesia. Each leader is unique and versatile, but each civilization brings new challenges to the religious game. Indonesia is a strong maritime power with a powerful fleet of junks, while the Khmer build dense, flourishing cities along riverbanks. Both civilizations meet on a unique Southeast Asian map in the new scenario, Path to Nirvana, where you must ensure that your religion has the largest number of followers.
The expansion includes the Khmer civilization, with King Jayavarman VII, the Domrei unique unit, and the Prasat unique improvement.
- Civ unique ability: Great Baray. Farms placed near aqueducts produce more food, while aqueducts provide faith and amusement.
- Unique Ruler Ability: Jayavarman’s Monasteries of the King ability allows the Khmer to capture adjacent territory, and produce food and shelter by placing sacred sites on rivers.
- Unique Unit: Domrei (Ballista on a War Elephant) is stronger than a Catapult, can move and shoot in the same turn, and has a Zone of Control.
- Unique Building: Prasat – replaces the Temple and provides one Relic slot. Missionaries produced here gain a new ability – if they die in a religious battle, they turn into a Relic.
The expansion also includes the Indonesian civilization with Queen Tribhuwana, the Junk unique unit, and the Kampong unique improvement.
- Civ Unique Ability: Great Nusantara gives some districts minor bonuses for being adjacent to coastal tiles, and Entertainment Complexes generate extra Amenity if adjacent to a coastal tile (not a lake).
- Ruler Unique Ability: Tribhuwana’s Great Goddess of the Three Worlds ability gives coastal cities a faith bonus, allows partial faith purchase of naval units, and ignores the loading and unloading cost of religious units.
- Unique Unit: Junk, replacing the Frigate. It moves faster, its combat power increases when in formation, and all units in the same formation with the junk move at its speed.
- Unique improvement: The kampong provides housing, production, and food for each adjacent fishing boat, and can be upgraded as technologies develop in the late stages of the game.
New scenario “The Path to Nirvana:
- The lands around the Indian Ocean are a colorful mosaic of peoples and religions. Heaven has entrusted you with a great mission – to bring light to these lands. Is your faith strong? Will you be able to convert all the peoples of Southeast Asia to the true religion? In this 50-turn scenario, your goal is to recruit as many followers of your religion, gain faith points per turn, and have foreign cities convert to your religion.
New World Wonder:
- Angkor Wat: The world’s largest religious monument returns to Civilization! This temple can only be built next to an Aqueduct, generates Faith, and when completed, adds one housing and population to each player’s city.
New Natural Wonder:
- Halong Bay: This stunning bay was one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2012. It provides Food, Production, and Culture, as well as a significant combat bonus to naval units in the bay tiles.
New Map:
- Expand your empire across Southeast Asia on a new political map with a random starting position option.
