Despite stubborn resistance from German troops and air support, the pass was captured by the forces of A/1 TB. Tanks of C/1 TB captured the bridge at Tebourba and attacked the German airfield at Djedeida, destroying over 20 aircraft and about 36 vehicles. After this raid, the battalion’s tanks took up defensive positions in the pass. The German command assembled a battle group under the leadership of Major Witzig, which was to counterattack the American positions in the Shuigi Pass.
