Turmoil – The Heat Is On is a brand new campaign where you can drill tons of oil and exchange it for cash! It’s designed to feel right at home, but at the same time it’s packed with new mechanics and fun features. Here’s what you can expect!
- A new town (and mayor!) and a new oil-rich map split into three areas.
- Each area introduces a new drilling mechanic powered by a new underground substance called magma.
- You’ll see some familiar faces, including Edward, Fred, and William. They’ve brought their wares in train cars, so you can get all your favorite drilling equipment in no time.
- There are also new faces like Philip, who runs a shady card game in the saloon.
- Jack is a new character who makes magma tools in his barn. He loves chicken.
- Anthony also returns from the past. Instead of trading diamonds, he runs his own shop where you can sell and buy all kinds of underground treasures.
- The new mayor is not like the old one. He gives free advice and uses a system of various auctions. But shares still cost money!
- There is a cat wandering around the village! He doesn’t do much, but what else can you expect from these creatures?
- And last but not least, a couple of brand new music tracks!
Evolution
A lot of The Heat Is On content is based on the lessons learned from Turmoil. We noticed that not all players were using natural gas to its full potential. That’s why we lowered the entry level for gas. Left and Right Inc. will have built-in gas intake capacity from the start. No more expensive upgrades, high oil prices for everyone! Overall, gas extraction has been made easier. However, experienced players shouldn’t be afraid that the game will become less challenging. The drilling game will still require smart decisions under pressure, especially in the final area!
The metagame in this new DLC campaign is more nuanced. Instead of diamonds, there are a total of 9 types of underground treasures available. Collect them all (through trading or mining) and you’ll get great benefits. There are also now more things to do in the village, such as a card game for money.
Making The Heat Is On has been a joy for us, and we hope it will only be matched by the joy you’ve had!
